Meta-Timeline of Various Canons

As meta-fictional cosmic entities, the Omnymphotents have existed across multiple incarnations, are aware of their fictional nature, and remember all of their previous lifetimes prior to the formation of their self-constructed current universe. As such, “canon” is something of a dubious terminology here. For the Omnys themselves, every version of their story is canon to their personal experiences, and the memory of those past events thus influences some of their thinking in their current incarnation.

However, their re-creation of the current Omnyverse is a cosmological do-over, a fresh start which fully separates the setting itself from any connections to my wider Erotic Multiverse. Thus, events of the previous universe are not canon to the current Omnyverse, save what the Progenitors decide to allow, or re-incorporate into their Omnyverse.

Much of this information is already disseminated throughout this website, whether referred to by the Omnys in the stories, or listed in lore articles such as the cast page. This Timeline article is meant as an easier go-to page to reference this lore. Note that many of the events listed prior to the current Timeline were never written or posted anywhere, but to the Omnys, this all still happened. Anytime I reached a major planning stage for the Omnys, that effectively counts as an alternate version of the story they experienced, as the characters did indeed develop through these mental gestation periods.

In approximate meta-chronological order (in as much as events that play out in non-linear time can be put “in order”), the major timelines can be summarized as such:

PROTOTYPE TIMELINE: THE FIVE

This was the story of the Omnymphotents prior to any attempt to actually hammer down a canon. The Omnys were as much a mystery to me as they were to the reader, as I simply wrote whatever came to me in the moment.

Lettie, Shady, Cyl, Whitney, and Devi were formed in this timeline, their backstories unknown as I wrote the first handful of Omny shorts. (Most of these shorts were re-incorporated into the Early Adventures stories, and thus were repeated in the current Omnyverse.) However, it was implied that dozens, possibly hundreds, of Omnymphotents existed around the world. Their exact level of power is unknown; certainly, they were able to warp reality, but the exact scale is not really known. They claimed to be able to do things like stand unharmed on the surface of a black hole, or be able to blow up a galaxy with a thought. I myself was undecided at the time.

Ascension was a mysterious random force that simply happened to certain women at random. The exact mechanism was unknown. There is some debate as to whether all Omnys are actually the same woman, or handful or women, and the majority of Omny encounters are just her or them in hundreds of disguises. As such, there is no telling which incarnation of each Omny is their original self.

A notable aspect of this version of the story is that initially, the Omnys were intended to be completely mysterious. All stories would be told through the eyes of their mortal Playthings, with the Omnys themselves acting as unknowable forces of erotic supernature. Don Joe, one of Cyl’s lovers, takes it upon himself to start investigating the Omnys as best he can, through interviews with Cyl and contacting other Playthings. His findings would be written (in character) as a series of articles on the PlayNet, a secret web network the Ommys allowed their Playthings to access. This mirrored my own explorations of the Omny concept, writing lore articles as they came to me, and playing them off as Don’s findings.

It is implied by during Meeting Cyl and Interview with an Omny that several cosmic events have already occurred for the Omnymphotents, meaning even this prototype timeline is not the first they have experienced meta-chronologically.

Another thing to note, the Empowered and Created stories written around that time, such as Alice TK and Carli’s Cocktease Caper, also happened in this timeline, and were re-incorporated into current Omnyverse.

SEX MAGE MULTIVERSE

The first attempt to solidly form a canon backstory involves the Sex Mage Multiverse, which has its own complicated lore. In brief, the conceit of the Sex Mage Multiverse is that Sex Magic, as well as the Curse of Temael, has expanded into many different timelines of Earth. This was done as a sort of writer’s window to allow me to explore different ideas for alternate versions of the Sex Mage World, as sometimes I liked to experiment with different variations of the Magic.

I hit upon the idea that Omnymphotence could, in fact, be a sort of “final form” of Sex Magic. As described in the SMM’s Levels of Impact article:

The final evolution of Sex Magic occurs in a rare few timelines where the powers of the Goddess-like Sex Mages grows so strong, that the Magic itself overcomes them, and creates a sort of mystical singularity. The whole of humanity becomes linked in a perpetual, unstoppable circuit of Magic that unifies the entire species on a mental, physical, and mystical level. The human race transforms into a singular gestalt entity. Men and women alike are sacrificed into this new being, though the female attributes mold the form and the power, while the male ones simply feed their Energy into it. This event likewise draws a great amount of power from the Fae Realm itself to facilitate this transformation into a truly cosmic being.

The resulting entity is an Omnymphotent, a female human with reality-warping powers and an insatiable libido. Sex is no longer a requirement for her powers to function, as her will is sufficient to bend the universe to her whim, but the Sex Magic origins of her ascension have greatly influenced her innate desires and instincts.

Despite her immense cosmic powers, an Omny still yearns for human contact and sexual experiences. Omnymphotents are capable of casually crossing dimensions and creating their own pocket universes; as such, they will immediately seek out other Timelines in order to reconnect with humanity. Omnymphotents prefer realities where Sex Magic has not appeared, and they have an effectively endless number to choose from. An Omny will usually stick to one Timeline for a prolonged period, rather than shift around, preferring to settle into a comfortable universe. At the same time, they will create pocket realities of their own to bring favored humans to. While the temperament and nature of an Omny can vary, all have a vested interest in the continued survival of the human race as a whole.

Only a tiny percentage of Sex Mage realities have resulted in the creation of an Omnymphotent. Nonetheless, between this and various other methods of Omny reproduction, as many as several thousand Omnymphotents come to exist. While an Omny is capable of traveling to different Timelines, they are unable or unwilling to travel to worlds where Sex Magic already exists.

The reason is twofold: their presence would automatically react to the Magic and interfere with its development. The only real way to guarantee the formation of a new Omnymphotent is to simply let the Timeline play out and let things evolve on their own. The second reason is that at one point, all extant Omnymphotents staged a combined assault on Temael in an attempt to save the Cursed Timelines. Despite their great power, once they broke into the Dark God’s universe, the Omnys were immediately slaughtered by Temael’s superior strength within Its own reality.

This attempt to kill Temael was orchestrated and lead by Cyl, who was the only one able to escape Temael under her own power. As she did, she grabbed the nearest Omnys to her, and managed to drag them out of the Dark God. However, Temael got one last shot at her as she ran, scarring her left eye with the Mark of Temael.

After this event, the traumatized Omnys find a far-removed reality, completely separate from the Erotic Multiverse and all of my other worlds. They settle into a routine of hedonism to deal with their trauma, resolutely deciding they will do just enough to keep Earth and humanity going, but not doing anything to help elevate the species.

Meta-chronologically speaking, this is effectively the actual “true” origin point of the Omnys within the Erotic Multiverse, despite it being retconned in after the initial set of stories. Still, this Timeline is perhaps the most important of the previous canons. Partly because this is the Timeline that really started to develop the Omny’s individual characters, Cyl in particular, and finally solidified the original five Omnys as their own distinct characters versus all the guises they had been taking.

Secondly, this origin point is actually still canon to the Sex Mage Multiverse as a whole. Likewise, Temael, whose existence is unique in the Multiverse (as in, there are no “alternate timelines” of the Dark God, only Its own singular existence), still remembers the attempt on Its life by the Omnys. Temael has even had further contact with Cyl via the Meta. Ergo, beyond the Omnys’ own experiences, this Timeline still “actually happened” in relation to the rest of the Erotic Multiverse.

THE PARADISE PLAN

Sometime after the failed assault on Temael, the Omnys shake out of their funk, and decide to try and help humanity in their current timeline. They Original Five of Cyl, Devi, Whitney, Shady, and Lettie remain as the only true Omnys, but they do instill Grand Blessings upon some mortals to create Grandymphotents, as well as lesser Empowered.

With the Paradise Plan, Earth is converted to a functioning utopia, where everyone is young and healthy indefinitely, everything is paid for, no disasters ever occur, and people only die if they really want to (usually as a result of having lived long enough and experienced enough that they don’t feel the need to keep living). The Omnys eventually out themselves to the whole of the world. Not much is known of what happens in this Timeline, aside from the fact that eventually, Fatal Ennui begins to set in.

Over the course of centuries, humanity simply loses its will to live, as they have nothing to strive for in a life without conflict. The Omnys, not wishing to overwrite mortal minds, do what they can to try and compensate for the growing despair of purposelessness that overcomes the human race, but in the end, they are unable to fix the problem without fundamentally altering mortals into something inhuman.

The Omnys abandon this timeline to allow humanity to live the rest of its days in a listless, but peaceful state, until eventually the last of them fades away. The Omnys are disturbed by this, and it is in this timeline that they realize they themselves don’t suffer from ennui the way mortals do.

WITHIN GOOD AND EVIL

Realizing that humanity requires some degree of conflict in order to maintain a sense of purpose, the Paradise Timeline is retroactively reconfigured with the Original Five Omnys opting to present themselves as Good and Evil Goddesses. Cyl represented the Good side as an angelic defender of justice and compassion, while Shady represented the Bad as a demonic temptress. Whitney established herself as a mysterious witch-goddess who made mystical deals with mortals, always honest in her dealings, but always requiring a compromising price to be paid. Devi established herself as a somewhat rogue pagan goddess who established her own neutral faction that refused to take sides, but would viciously defend themselves against either Good or Evil parties. Lettie acted the role of a capricious trickster goddess, alternately beneficent or malicious as her whims took her.

Through their influence, the world is given a more straight forward Black and White morality, with people being overtly good, evil, or overall neutral. Ostensibly, human nature in this reality is overall good, but the potential for evil is always there, and some people become corrupted due to personal desires.

This is a world where a person’s free will and determination actually is sufficient to change their circumstances if they try hard enough to do so. Essentially, the only thing stopping good people from leading good lives is when evil people victimize them, or they succumb to their own evil tendencies. Likewise, the general minority of truly evil people would eventually get their comeuppance, though they could do enormous damage in a short amount of time.

Unfortunately, free will combined with a lack of nuance did not account for the innate sense of human tribalism. With either good or ill intentions, various factions fell into the dogmatic thinking of Othering other groups of people, and conflict spiraled out of control. Moreover, the Omnys found themselves drifting too seriously into their roles. Eventually, Cyl and Shady became so embroiled in their Good versus Evil roleplay, that they actually started battling each other, roping the other three Omnys into the fight. At some point, it became personal, until they engaged in an all-out war that obliterated this Timeline completely.

BORN OF THE ONE

In an effort to break free of previous constraints, I surmised a fresh start for the Omnymphotents. In this Timeline, the first Omny to be Created was a new girl named Megan, who obtained Ascension through initially unknown means. Eventually, she realizes she gave herself the power of Ascension by time traveling back to the previous night and giving herself the powers, but when this was incorporated, I don’t remember. For a time, it was still just a random thing that happened.

Regardless, Megan, upon gaining her powers, spends some time having sex flings, and soon takes on a new form as Domina. As Domina, she flaunts her power more and more, until she publicly reveals herself as a Goddess and makes many radical, overt changes to the planet, turning it more fantastical. However, she realizes that her Domina persona is making her somewhat unhinged, and so she forces herself to return to being Megan. However, she still doesn’t want to just be herself, and thus takes on many different forms, trying out different guises, such as those of the Five, and dozens of others. As she does so, she travels across dimensions and through time, often several times simultaneously, in her various guises. Because of this degree of separation, her various different guises take on lives of their own, until dozens of Omnys exist, all fragments of Megan’s reality.

This Timeline doesn’t come to a climatic conclusion, so much as fizzles out of interest, however, with Mega losing herself across her myriad travels.

RETURN TO FIVE

An attempt to reboot the whole series with a self-contained origin more fully separated from the greater Erotic Multiverse. This origin took a more uniform approach, almost following the beats of a magical girl manga, starting off with a “good girl” protagonist who befriends a series of trouble-makers, culminating in a battle against a truly evil antagonist.

In this reality, Cyl is the first Omny, with Ascension coming from seemingly no where. She spends some time as the only Omny, debating deeply with herself over what she should do with her newfound power, wanting to do more to help the world, but uncertain how to do so without compromising humanity. Before she can really think out a good plan of action, however, she soon finds herself becoming a cosmic cat-herder.

However, soon, she senses the awakening of Shady, who is going about using and abusing people at her leisure. Cyl moves to stop her, and eventually convinces Shady to back down from her casual abuse of people by slapping some sense and perspective into her. Thus they begin an initially rocky relationship of Cyl being the sensible, responsible one, while Shady is the button-pusher.

Lettie then appears, a completely chaotic trickster who is so erratic in her comings and goings, it takes Cyl and Shady to reign her in. Once she is contained, however, Cyl is able to get her to realize the damage she’s doing by disrupting so many mortal lives haphazardly. Even Shady takes a lesson from this, and while she still likes to push Cyl’s buttons, she sees how her own actions could lead to disastrous results if left unchecked, giving her a new appreciation for Cyl.

Whitney then appears, granted Empowerments to women all around the world, bringing a surge of superhumanity to the public eye. Cyl finds this again too disruptive, as superhuman violence begins to occur as some women take on superhero and supervillain personas. However, Whitney is much more reasonable, and acquiesces to Cyl’s wisdom on the matter. The Omnys retroactively erase the damage and memory of superhumans, and establish the Masquerade to hide the existence of Empowered.

Devi then appears, ensnaring whole nations in worship of her as she reveals herself as a living Goddess to the world. Once again, Cyl comes into conflict with her, and with the other Omnys, convinces her that humanity must be helped subtly, not enslaved. Devi reluctantly agrees, but the Lettie forwards the idea of the Omny Worlds, to satiate their desires off-world while keeping Earth safe. The others agree, and they create Threa as a main hub world.

However, the next Omny to arise cannot be reasoned with. Domina appears and forcibly converts the world into a Hell Planet, with herself as its absolute ruler. The Five step in to stop her, but Domina proves too strong, battling all five of them evenly. Unlike the previous Omnys, Domina is truly evil and insane, and cannot be talked down. Eventually, however, Cyl manages to start fighting more evenly with Domina on her own, while the other four block her more esoteric powers. (It is unknown if Domina was originally Megan in this timeline. She only appears as Domina.)

In an attempt to murder the other Omnys before they can be a problem for her, Domina goes back in time and kills their mortal selves before Empowerment. However, it seems that once Ascended, an Omny is freed from the constraints of mortal time, and the Omnys continue to exist. The Five battle Domina through the timestream, and eventually, combine their power to kill her. Domina detonates in a huge burst of cosmic energy, the bolts firing across reality to strike the Earth at random.

The Five realize their own empowerments, and Domina’s came from this event, Domina’s own power traveling through time to cause Ascension for them all, and creating a sort of feedback loop effect that caused her own power to be amplified over the others.

With Domina destroyed, the Five return and fix Earth, continuing to live in the world and have their fun. They realize other Omnys may appear as Domina’s power bolts occasionally fire off across the timeline, but the Five are now prepared to handle any further trouble makers.

CAPTION IMAGE SIDE-STORIES

While not exactly planned as a real timeline as such, Captioned Images featuring the Omnys were mostly made somewhat out of canon, in that they occasionally detail events that don’t line up with the current Omnyverse. There isn’t really a timeline here, other than it takes bits and pieces from then-current ideas, and implements them into a flash fic caption without regard to canon. In a way, the Captioned Image Not-Timeline could be considered a testing ground for some ideas before they are either implemented into the stories, or eventually discarded. It could be considered something of a Beta-Testing Timeline.

Things to note here are that the Captions have sometimes been the first appearance of Omnys who would later have their story debut in the current Omnyverse (Rainbow, Kat, Megan/Mars, Demi, Illia). This is also where ideas for Mingles and Splinters first showed up, with Demi appearing as the Mingle-Daughter of Lettie and Devi, and Mars appearing as a Splinter of Shady. Mars would later be redone as Megan. In some Captions, Megan and Kat are seen palling and teasing boys together, even though in the official stories, the two are decidedly not friends, and don’t care to fool around with other girls. Likewise, some Omny’s initial Caption appearances are somewhat out of character compared to their canon story appearances.

META-FICTIONAL RESET: THE OMNYVERSE

This is the current timeline, as begins with Metafucktional Miracle. Here, Shady and Cyl work to push Salamando to finally make a decision and write their series in earnest, resulting a story where Megan is again the first Omny. This time, however, Megan senses Salamando writing her, yanks him across the fourth wall and throws him into a Sex Mage prison. From there, the Original Five insert themselves into the story, and work with Megan (who shifts into Domina), to completely reboot their series.

All six perform the cosmic orgy of the Big Bang, and resets reality to create the current Omnyverse, which is where all current stories are set, as well as any further stories from here on out.

A LOST REALITY

Retroactively applied as a past canon, despite being conceived as the backstory for Reignbeau after the Omnyverse’s current formation. The origins of the Omnys are not specified here, presumably returning to the idea of Ascension as a random act of happenstance.

The important difference is that in this reality, dozens of Omnys appeared, including Cyl, Collette (Lettie), Reignbeau, and Domina. This reality was attacked by the Abyss, a cosmic entity that devours universes. Seeking to spare her world, Domina makes a pact with the Abyss, gaining a massive boost of power, in exchange for helping it seek out other universes rich in the cosmic energy the Abyss needs to sustain itself.

Once empowered, Domina converted the entire universe into a Hell dimension, with herself as the top Goddess. The various Omnys attempt to stop her, only to get slaughtered as Domina overpowers many of them, and feeds them to the Abyss. Reignbeau was one of the last to battle her, but was ultimately defeated. However, unlike her fellow Omnys, Reignbeau was sucked into the Omnyverse instead of being destroyed.

Whether this timeline actually happened is up for debate. While the Abyss is real, none of the other Omnys remember this timeline; only Reignbeau remembers it. This could mean that the entire reality is false, even by the fictional standards of the Omnyverse, with these memories being an implanted backstory. It could also mean that the Abyss ended up consuming that timeline, erasing even the memory of it from everyone save Reignbeau, who may only remember it due to the cosmic happenstance of being somehow swept away between Timelines while hers was being erased.
